Removals in East Finchley
Handsome period homes, leafy streets by Cherry Tree Wood, and the Highgate border close by — East Finchley is a lovely place to move, with a few characterful quirks to plan around.
East Finchley (N2) has a distinctly different feel from its neighbours — a bit more village, a bit more Highgate. The East Finchley tube with its famous archer statue anchors the High Road, Cherry Tree Wood gives the area its green heart, and the streets running up toward Fortis Green and the Muswell Hill and Highgate borders are lined with well-kept Victorian and Edwardian houses. It’s a neighbourhood of period property, which is where our care really earns its keep.
Those lovely old houses come with lovely old features: narrow hallways, steep staircases with a turn in them, original floors you don’t want scuffed, and the occasional stained-glass door to work around. So a move in N2 is as much about protection and planning as muscle. We wrap the banisters and cover the floors, measure the tight turns before the day, and work out how the wardrobe, the sofa and the piano are actually going to get out — long before anyone lifts them.
Access near the tube and the High Road
East Finchley’s streets can be tight, and the controlled parking zones need thinking about, especially close to the station and the High Road. We check the access at the survey and, where the road won’t take a full lorry, bring a smaller shuttle vehicle to ferry between the door and the truck. The hillier streets toward Highgate get the same once-over — nothing about N2’s geography is new to us.
The homes we move
This is period-home territory, so expect terraces and semis full of character, plus the garden flats and upper maisonettes carved from larger houses. Families settling near the good schools, downsizers who’ve loved the area for decades, and people crossing the border to or from Muswell Hill and Highgate — we move all of them. Delicate and valuable pieces are common here too, and they get proper wrapping and, where needed, custom crating.
Storage in East Finchley
Period-home chains can be slow to line up, so storage is a frequent companion to an N2 move. We can collect, keep your things safe, and deliver when the new place is ready — see the storage page for the options. It takes the pressure off when completion dates are playing games.

Good to know
East Finchley moves — good to know
A lot of East Finchley is period homes with narrow hallways — can you manage that?
That’s our bread and butter in N2. The Edwardian and Victorian houses near Cherry Tree Wood and up toward the Highgate border are lovely, but the hallways and staircases ask for care. We protect the walls, banisters and floors properly, and plan the awkward pieces — the wardrobe, the sofa, the piano — before the day rather than on it.
Is access near East Finchley tube and the main roads tricky?
It’s manageable with a bit of planning. The High Road and the streets off it can be tight, and the controlled zones need thinking about, so we check it all at the survey and bring a smaller shuttle vehicle if the lorry can’t get right to the door. Nothing about East Finchley is new to us.
